Who are your workshops for?
Who are your workshops for?
Our workshops are for anybody who edits books for a general readership as part of their job. Our training is aimed at people who are new to editing. You might be an assistant editor or agent supporting your manager with editorial notes. Or you might be an editor or agent embarking on your first solo edits.
More experienced editors and agents looking to refresh or deepen their knowledge are also welcome to join us.
Our workshops were designed by editors with in-house experience acquiring, editing and publishing books at trade publishers – we don’t cover academic or educational books.
The focus of our workshops is on editing fiction and non-fiction for adults and young adults. We don’t have any children’s-specific training (yet), but children’s editors working on books for ages 6+ have found our training useful and relevant.

Our training was developed by trade book editors, with trade books in mind. While we suspect you’d enjoy the non-fiction workshop, the training isn’t tailored to academic or educational titles.

I'm an author with a manuscript in progress and would love to work with an editor to help me get it into shape. Can Unfolding Edits do that for me?
All of our editing work comes through literary agencies or publishers. This gives us the opportunity to train new agents and editors in the process.
If you’d like feedback on your manuscript but don’t yet have an agent or book deal, we recommend getting in touch with The Literary Consultancy, or seeking out a freelance editor through Reedsy.

We can’t offer one-to-one advice to aspiring authors, but there are lots of resources online you can check out. Penguin’s 'Getting Published’ pages and The Literary Consultancy's 'Resources for Writers' are two excellent starting points.
